Knutsford is one of England's oldest and most attractive market towns. It takes its name from King Canute who famously demonstrated that not even royalty could control the tides.
The town is set in glorious countryside yet is ideal for city communters with rail links and easy access to the M6. Its beautiful architectural heritage has been lovingly preserved and it exudes the civic confidence of a leafy, affluent area where people take pride in where they live.
In town, you'll find a rich choice of attractive cafés, bars and restaurants, independently owned retailers that cater for every taste and antique shops that make treasure hunting a joy. Out of town, Mere Golf Club and Tatton Mere are close by - in Knutsford the best of urban and rural life come together easily.
150 years ago, Mrs Gaskell's Cranford, was set in Knutsford. We think that, were she living in Knutsford today, she would be tempted to write another idyll.
